Pauly Gleason

Pauly Gleason is an American artist residing in Berlin whose work explores the thresholds between the seen and the unseen. Working primarily in oil paint, Gleason creates abstract motifs defined by bright colors and bold, energetic strokes. Each canvas becomes a portal — an opening into other realms, parallel spaces, or realities that hover just beyond the familiar.

Gleason's large-format paintings invite viewers to stand before them and experience the work on a bodily scale. The compositions resist fixed interpretation, offering instead a shifting terrain of forms and color fields. Is it an island? A landscape? An entity not yet discovered? The answer is left intentionally open. Within this ambiguity, Gleason encourages each viewer to project their own associations, memories, and imaginations, allowing the work to transform with every encounter.

Rooted in curiosity and the desire to expand perception, Gleason's paintings function as gateways — moments where color and gesture converge to reveal the possibility of something more.

Pauly Gleason is a multidisciplinary artist, art director, and designer. He works in painting, drawing, graphic design, screen printing, animation, film, and textile and fashion design. He studied fine arts (with a focus on painting) at Parsons School of Design in Paris (New School for Social Research).

He has strong ties to Berlin and Minnesota and worked between the two locations for many years. He also combines fashion with art and subcultural influences.

His style can best be described as a combination of fine art, street art aesthetics, graphic design, and artisanal printing techniques.
